#MEET Fun Laboratory Concept

This is a short interview we conducted with Samuel Ahenakwah Benya, the founder of “Fun Laboratory Concept”. If you like the concept of this idea and would like to vote for it, click HERE.

  • What is your background?

My name is Samuel Ahenakwah Benya, a twenty eight year old career-minded teacher with diploma in Psychology and Foundation to Education with a major in Mathematics and English. I am a Ghanaian and the founder of the 'Fun Laboratory Concept'.

  • Describe your idea or project in two sentences.

Funlab Initiative, Ghana is a basic school-based entity which looks at developing the study standard of Mathematics and Science among children in schools across the Western Region of Ghana especially in the rural communities. With the prime objective in raising children’s interest in the twin subjects, the organization runs innovative programs, in consonance with the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) standard, by adopting fun-learning alternatives; Science through play – based activities (fun games and making the study practical) and other diverse innovative approaches to invoke children’s interest in the twin subjects.

  • What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?

As a new entrepreneur I have benefited from their lessons and this being the first competition I have entered have also enlightened me for any further opportunities.

  • What motivates you to be an entrepreneur?

I have an aptitude for creative problem solving and analysis with much attention to detail. I am a highly passionate worker with an exceptional versatile strength and I love to initiate. I was actually moved to solve the problem our children are facing in their studies in Mathematics and Science.

  • Imagine you have ‚supreme power’ to create and innovate: how would your world look like? What changes would you like to make in your community and/or in the world? Share your thoughts from a ‚supreme power’ and entrepreneur standpoint.

I think the development of every community is based on the literal standard of its members. I see most of our problems are there because most of the educated people in the community only have the theoretical aspect of education but not the practical aspect. Imagine how a child who has learnt how to make water safe for drinking in the classroom comes back home to drink a very dirty water because the community do not have access to clean water. If I have supreme power as mentioned, I would change the school curriculum to more of practicals than theory.

  • What would you say to potential voters who may be reading your interview?

To all who will be reading this interview, yes I do not have that supreme power to change the school curriculum but yes I do believe you and I can create a practical environment for our younger siblings to study. That has lead to the creation of the Fun Laboratory Concept. We together can create that supreme power. Join us with your votes so we make our world better.
