1. Please, tell us a bit about yourself: where are you from and what is your background?
I am Ms. Preeti, Director in the Enterprises. I am based at Jaipur, Rajasthan of India.Since my childhood, I am involved with the business with my father.
2. Can you describe your idea or project in two sentences?
The idea of my project is to keep the traditional art alive through engagement of rural women and provide them with livelihood to lead a dignified life.
3. How did you get your idea or concept?
It was my father who initiated the work with women in rural settings joining me has given a new dimension to the work.Most of the women are sitting in their homes and don't have much to do after completing their household work. My father believed in everyone's potential and thought of starting working with them to make ordinary carpets and selling to near by towns. Slowly we develop our business and now exporting the products in international market.
4. What is unique about your idea/project and how does it benefit mankind?
Our product is man made, and engage illiterate and least knowledgeable person. It gives livelihood to women at grass roots and gives them a chance to earn their livelihood and live a decent life with confidence and equality.
5. Describe yourself as an entrepreneur in one sentence
I always work to things happen.
6. How do you deal with people that doubt your abilities/initiatives?
I deal with people with positive attitude and look at their potential and I never doubt their abilities.I always work to build their capacity according to the market demands on designs.
7. Where does your passion lie?
I always work new development and would like to continue the same
8. What are you afraid of or what keeps you up at night?
I keep an eye on new competitors and work to produce the best art to compete in the market.
9. According to you, money is a synonym for.....
Money is part of life but for me, my people( weavers) are my first priority.
10. If you could rid the world of three things, what would they be?
Hunger, poverty and Gender equality
11. What are the benefits you take from the Entrepreneurship Campus?
I meet with new people ( buyers), get their interest and see the happiness on our weavers face.
12. What do you like more about the Entrepreneurship Campus?
Each day I get new learning about the raw material, new designs, developing new colors from the existing fibers.
13. Which idea/project do you like most?
I like to work on new designs according to market and I love research.
